Farmhouse

This design style achieved widespread acceptance around 2015. Farmhouse style takes its cues from classic styled homes from America’s heartland. Stereotypical farm homes in this region often featured wide apron sinks and shiplap on the walls which helped to simplify chores. Typically, these homes had long sturdy tables to serve larger households.  Hand-hewn room-spanning beams were used to not only support the home’s main structure but also to hang all sorts of items such as herbs for drying.

Accessories in this style include found objects repurposed – think a large plank of wood with the word welcome leaning near the front door.  Wrought iron, buffalo check, corrugated metal, shiplap, barn doors, well-worn kitchen implements like cutting boards, bottles, canning jars, and vintage dishes are key accessories found in farmhouse stylings.
